I start every morning with coffee and God through daily devotions from Our Daily Bread Ministries, https://odb.org. Today’s devotion is titled “Courageous Stand” The scripture is from Ephesians 6:10–18 with the key verse, “Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world” Ephesians 6:12. Bill Crowder wrote this devotion. My beloved brothers, and sisters in Christ, all that I write, I pray first to God to guide my words, so that it may serve as spiritual food and guidance. I want God to be the sole source of my writing, so all the credit goes to Him, not to me. I am only his humble servant. I thank God that He lead me to use Our Daily Bread Ministries as a base for comments. The author of this devotion has challenged his readers to consider the different elements of Roman armor, consider the practical way each piece protected the soldier and how is Paul using those ideas to express how God enables us to stand against evil. To me, The Helmet of salvation is to protect your head. In this case to keep temptations and doubts out from your mind. The Breast Plate of righteousness is used to remind us that our spirit which was once dead is alive is alive in Christ. The belt of truth and the Sword of The Spirit work together. The Belt of Truth upholds or carries the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. “The word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart”. (Hebrews 4:12 ESV). The shield is used to protect the entire body. Most of the times the shield is composed of numerous materials (including water) to protect against objects being hurled at it. The shield of faith is used to quench all the fiery darts (doubts, fears, etc.) of the wicked one. The Romans had protection for their feet. As Christians, we put on shoes made of the gospel of peace, so that we walk in peace all the times. Paul continues to tell us to pray. A saying that is used a lot is “There are no atheists in foxholes”. God enables us to stand for Him.

May God bless and cover you with His full armor.
