I start every morning with coffee and God through daily devotions from Our Daily Bread Ministries, https://odb.org. Today’s devotion is titled “A Warm Welcome for All” The scripture is from Hebrews 13:1–3 with the key verse, “Let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers” Galatians 6:10. Dave Branon wrote this devotion. My beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, all that I write, I pray first to God to guide my words, so that it may serve as spiritual food and guidance. I want God to be the sole source of my writing, so all the credit goes to Him, not to me. I am only his humble servant. I thank God that He lead me to use Our Daily Bread Ministries as a base for comments. I remember our first time living in Poway and going to church. Here is a little background; we were told of stories that Poway was a real "red neck" community and no one of color was welcomed there. We were newcomers to the community, and the closest church was down the street from where we lived. It was in walking distance. We decided to go to church. We sat in the back and said nothing. We fill out the newcomer's card and left. An hour later someone from the church came by our house with a "welcome basket." They invited us out for dinner. After that, we felt welcome at this church and the community. We joined the church and lived in Poway for several years. When you welcome all people openly, and with Christlike love, you reflect the Savior’s love and compassion.
Lord, open our hearts to all people who enter our lives—showing them Christlike love and godly hospitality. Help us to make everyone we meet feel the warm welcome of Jesus’s love.
God bless you and open your hearts to all people who enter your life.
