I start every morning with coffee and God through daily devotions from Our Daily Bread Ministries, https://odb.org. Today’s devotion is titled “A Piercing Thorn” The scripture is from Isaiah 53:1–6 with the key verse, “But he was pierced for our transgressions . . . and by his wounds we are healed.” Isaiah 53:5. Adam Holz wrote this devotion. My beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, all that I write, I pray first to God to guide my words, so that it may serve as spiritual food and guidance. I want God to be the sole source of my writing, so all the credit goes to Him, not to me. I am only his humble servant. I thank God that He lead me to use Our Daily Bread Ministries as a base for comments. When I saw the movie The Passion by Mel Gibson, I was outraged. I imagined having an advanced army and destroying Rome. I remembered cutting myself with a knife, that hurt and required four stitches. As I read Isaiah 53:1-6, I understood how much Jesus loved us. At any moment, He can have called legions of angels to decimate the planet, but he humbly died for our sins. Jesus allowed Himself to be pierced to bring us spiritual peace with God. What a savior!
Father, I can’t imagine the pain Your Son endured to wash away my sin. Thank You for sending Him for me, to be pierced for my sins that I might have a relationship with You.
May God bless you.
