wp:paragraph I start every morning and evening with coffee and God through daily devotions from Our Daily Bread Ministries, https://odb.org. “Don’t Be Afraid!” is the title of today’s devotion. The scripture is from Luke 2:42–52 with the key verse, “The kingdom of God has come near.” Mark 1:15. Philip Yancey wrote this devotion. My beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, all that I write, I pray first to God to guide my words, so that it may serve as spiritual food and guidance. I want God to be the sole source of my writing, so all the credit goes to Him, not to me. I am only his humble servant. I thank God that He led me to use Our Daily Bread Ministries as a base for comments. What I observe the closer we are to Christmas, the more intense are the teachings about Christ. This devotion is centered on Christ as man and God. When shepherds saw angels, they were afraid. The first words the angel said was don't be afraid. God's plan was to restore His relationship with man. He took the form of a baby. On Earth Jesus is both God and man. As God, He can work miracles, forgive sins, conquer death, and predict the future. As man, for the first time, anyone could talk to God in visible form.
Heavenly Father, we pause at Christmas to remember how Your Son came to us in the form of a helpless baby . . . and we worship in amazement and wonder that God came near to us.
May God bless you, and worship in amazement and wonder that God came near to you.
