Doubt and Faith
I start every morning with coffee with God through daily devotions from Our Daily Bread. Today’s devotion is titled “Doubt and Faith.” Poh Fang Chia wrote this devotion. The scripture reading is from Job 1:20–22, Job 2:7–10 with the key verse, “The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised.”, Job 1:21. My beloved children, grandchildren, cousins, nephews, brothers, and sisters in Christ, all that I write, I first pray to God to guide my words so that it will serve as spiritual food and guidance. I desire God to be my sole source of wiring. All the credit goes to God, not me. I am his humble servant. I thank God that He led to use Our Daily Bread Ministries as my inspiration for comments.
Before I knew Christ, I was familiar with God and wanted to know more about Him. I was not able to connect my personal or spiritual outcomes to him. I believe things happened and that was it. I had no idea that He was already involved in my life.
When I became a Christian, I realized that God controlled everything that happens in our lives; the good and the bad. We are all afraid and unsure about the Corona Virus. Some have suffered lose of jobs, family members (physical), and faith in God (spiritual). The story of Job is a perfect example of a person who suffered spiritually and physically, but he never blamed or cursed God.
In our sufferings, we too may find ourselves vacillating between despair and hope, doubt, and faith. God does not require us to be dauntless in the face of adversity but instead invites us to come to Him with our questions. Though our faith may fail at times, we can trust God to always be faithful.
Reflect:
What doubts and questions do you need to bring before God today? How can you use Job 1:21 to guide you in your prayers?
Prayer:
Dear Father, when doubts and fears overwhelm us, help us remember we are precious in Your sight. You are always in control, and You care for us.
May God bless you and help you to remember that you are precious in His sight. He is always in control, and He cares for you.
