A Friend in Failure
I start every morning with coffee with God through daily devotions from Our Daily Bread. Today’s devotion is titled “A Friend in Failure.” James Banks wrote this devotion. The scripture reading is from Acts 15:36–16:5 with the key verse, “Paul did not think it wise to take him, because he had deserted them,” Acts 15:38. My beloved children, grandchildren, cousins, nephews, brothers, and sisters in Christ, all that I write, I first pray to God to guide my words to serve as spiritual food and guidance. I desire God to be my sole source of writing. All the credit goes to God, not me. I am his humble servant. I thank God that He led to use Our Daily Bread Ministries as my inspiration for comments.
I had many failures in my life. The most recent is my failure as a spiritual leader in my household. One evening The Holy Spirit prompted me to talk to my wife about our relationship through her eyes. The results were brutal. I had no idea that she felt the way she did. I was the friend who deserted her, physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. I felt awful and knew I had to change. I prayed to God to help.
It is good to know that God will not leave us to face our errors and failures alone. He is a Friend who is more significant than every mistake. Our Savior provides the help and strength we need.
Reflect:
What mistakes or failures have you faced recently? In what ways have you discovered God’s strength as you shared them with Him in prayer?
Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for being there whenever I want to talk to You. I praise You for the comfort and hope only You can give!
My Prayer for You:
May God bless and give you the comfort and hope only He can provide!
