Not Taking Advantage
I start every morning with coffee with God through daily devotions from Our Daily Bread. Today’s devotion is titled “Not Taking Advantage.” Kirsten Holmberg wrote this devotion. The scripture reading is from Acts 16:22–34 with the key verse, “Don’t harm yourself! We are all here!” Acts 16:28. My beloved children, grandchildren, cousins, nephews, brothers, and sisters in Christ, all I write, I first pray to God to guide my words to serve as spiritual food and guidance. I desire God to be my sole source of writing. All the credit goes to God, not me. I am his humble servant. I thank God that He led to use Our Daily Bread Ministries as my inspiration for comments.
I remember, as an AWANA commander I told my leaders that the way we treat others reveals what we believe and value. When we choose to do good instead of harm, our actions might prompt others to wonder about the God we know and love.
It is too easy to treat others as they treat you. However, this is the opposite of what God wants. God wants us to treat others like we want to be treated. If you follow this command, and you are an effective witness about God. You never know who is watching your actions, which speak volumes about your faith and beliefs.
Reflect:
In what situation can you choose not to take advantage of your gain? How might that decision benefit someone else?
Prayer:
Loving God, help us to make choices that will draw others to You.
My Prayer for You:
May God bless and help you to make choices that will draw others to You.
