A royal Role

I start every morning with coffee with God through daily devotions from Our Daily Bread. Today's devotion is titled "A Royal Role." Linda Washington wrote this devotion. The scripture reading is John 1:9–14 with the key verse, "To all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God," John 1:12. My beloved children, grandchildren, cousins, nephews, brothers, and sisters in Christ, all I write, I first pray to God to guide my words to serve as spiritual food and guidance. I desire God to be my sole source of writing. All the credit goes to God, not me. I am his humble servant. I thank God that He led to use Our Daily Bread Ministries as my inspiration for comments.

Many people seek recognition for their works and achievement. My wife and I do our jobs every day, and we do not expect or want attention. We work for the glory of God.

John says that as believers in Christ, we are royalty. The apostle John wrote that God gave us "the right to become children of God" (John 1:12). Believers in Christ may not be in the spotlight, but we are royalty. We represent God on Earth, and one will rule with Him in Heaven. Until that day, we have a role to play in God's Kingdom here on Earth.

Reflect:

How does knowing you are royalty—God's child—make you feel? As a child of the King, what do you see as your responsibilities to the people around you?

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I am grateful that You adopted me into Your forever family.

My Prayer for You:

May God bless and adopted you into His forever family.
