A Glimmer on the Sea
I start every morning with coffee with God through daily devotions from Our Daily Bread. Today’s devotion is titled “A Glimmer on the Sea.” Tim Gustafson wrote this devotion. The scripture reading is Ephesians 2:1–5, 11–13 with the key verse, “At that time you were separate from Christ. . . . without hope and without God in the world.”, Ephesians 2:12. My beloved children, grandchildren, cousins, nephews, brothers, and sisters in Christ, all I write, I first pray to God to guide my words to serve as spiritual food and guidance. I desire God to be my sole source of writing. All the credit goes to God, not me. I am his humble servant. I thank God that He led to use Our Daily Bread Ministries as my inspiration for comments.
I felt the despair and darkness that Malcolm Muggeridge felt. Depression is a deep hole filled with no hope. I told my sister that I wanted to kill myself. She did two things to bring me around. First, she directed me to God. Second, she threatened to call the cops if I did not seek help.
Through God’s word, I realized that there is no darkness. We are made alive through Christ. “God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead” (Ephesians2:4–5).
Reflect:
What has been your darkest moment? In what places have you glimpsed the “light that shines eternally”?
Prayer:
Father, you are the source of all my genuine hope. Fill me with Your light and joy.
My Prayer for You:
May God bless and give you genuine hope to fill you with His light and joy.
