Trusting God in times of Sorrow
I start every morning with coffee with God through daily devotions from Our Daily Bread. Today’s devotion is titled “Trusting God in Times of Sorrow.” Amy Boucher Pye wrote this devotion. The scripture reading is 2 Timothy 1:6–12 with the key verse, “I know whom I have believed.”, 2 Timothy 1:12. My beloved children, grandchildren, cousins, nephews, brothers, and sisters in Christ, all I write, I first pray to God to guide my words to serve as spiritual food and guidance. I desire God to be my sole source of writing. All the credit goes to God, not me. I am his humble servant. I thank God that He led to use Our Daily Bread Ministries as my inspiration for comments.
It is not easy to share sorrows with others as a Christian witness. It leaves you vulnerable. My wife and I are learning to open ourselves to other Christians.
After our daughter attempted suicide, we experienced God’s joy through the ministry and support from others. Our daughter remains in a semi-vegetative state, but every day she is alive is a blessing for us.
Reflect:
How have you experienced God’s joy even in times of deep sorrow? How do you explain this? How could you share what you learned with others?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, fan into flame the gift of faith in me, that I might share with love and power my testimony of how You work in my life.
My Prayer for You:
May God bless and help you fan into flame the gift of faith in you, to share with love, and power your testimony of how God works.
