Touch the Needy
I start every morning with coffee with God through daily devotions from Our Daily Bread. Today’s devotion is titled “Touch the Needy.” Estera Pirosca Escobar wrote this devotion. The scripture reading is Luke 13:10–17 with the key verse, “He put his hands on her, and immediately she straightened up and praised God.”, Luke 13:13. My beloved children, grandchildren, cousins, nephews, brothers, and sisters in Christ, all I write, I first pray to God to guide my words to serve as spiritual food and guidance. I desire God to be my sole source of writing. All the credit goes to God, not me. I am his humble servant. I thank God that He led to use Our Daily Bread Ministries as my inspiration for comments.
We have a severe homeless problem in this country. People walk by and not look at them, pretending they do not exist. I was guilty as well.
One hot day, I was at the burger place. I witnessed an employee turn down a homeless person’s request for a cup of water. I brought this person back into the restaurant, sat him down, and ordered a meal. He broke out into tears. I felt good and blessed.
Often, we see people as undeserving of our compassion because they did not meet our standards or expectations. Let us follow Jesus’ example and treat others with compassion, love, and dignity.
Reflect:
How have you experienced God’s healing and touch? Who can you show compassion to this week?
Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for Your infinite love and incredible compassion for all humans, including those marred by disease and difficulties.
My Prayer for You:
May God bless and help you show compassion for all humans.
