The Battle's Over. Really.

I start every morning with coffee with God through daily devotions from Our Daily Bread. Today’s devotion is titled “The Battle’s Over. Really.” Winn Collier wrote this devotion. The scripture reading is Romans 6:1–11 with the key verse, “We were . . . buried with him.”, Romans 6:4. My beloved children, grandchildren, cousins, nephews, brothers, and sisters in Christ, all I write, I first pray to God to guide my words to serve as spiritual food and guidance. I desire God to be my sole source of writing. All the credit goes to God, not me. I am his humble servant. I thank God that He led to use Our Daily Bread Ministries as my inspiration for comments.

I never thought anything about death. I knew I was going to hell, but I did not care. In fact, I repeated many times that I want to go where the party is. I believed that Heaven was boring-you sat on a cloud and played the harp all day.

When I went to church, I learned that hell was eternal death, and there are no parties. I did not want to go to hell or be in the power of sin. I also learned that I did not have to die. Jesus conquered death and the grave. Once I became a Christian, I knew death and sin had no hold on me. I have eternal life with Jesus, my Lord, and Savior. The battle is truly over, really.

Reflect:

How are you tempted to believe that death and sin still hold power over your life? Where can you see Christ’s victory already present in the world?

Prayer:

Jesus, I know You have won the battle over evil and darkness. Would You help me to live this out?

My Prayer for You:

May God bless and help you to remember that the battle over evil and darkness is won.
