A Great Work

I start every morning with coffee with God through daily devotions from Our Daily Bread. Today's devotion is titled "A Great Work." Glenn Packiam wrote this devotion. The scripture reading is Nehemiah 6:1–4 with the key verse, "'I am carrying on a great project and cannot go down. Why should the work stop while I leave it and go down to you?'", 1 Nehemiah 6:3. My beloved children, grandchildren, cousins, nephews, brothers, and sisters in Christ, for all I write, I first pray to God to guide my words to serve as spiritual food and guidance. I desire God to be my sole source of writing. All the credit goes to God, not me. I am his humble servant. I thank God that He led to use Our Daily Bread Ministries as my inspiration for comments.

I was called to be an AWANA Commander at a new church. We moved from Poway down to the South Bay. We started going to a church that had an AWANA Club. Our children were in the church youth group. The conversation came up; their AWANA Club did not have a Commander. I knew that the club can not run without a commander. I prayed about this, then went to the church leaders and explain that I was an AWANA Commander at my previous church.

I volunteered my services until they were able to pick a commander from church members. I was this church AWANA commander for ten years. I believed I was doing something vital for God. I took seriously what He had given me to do, and I did it well in His power and provision.

Prayer:

Dear God, help me to believe that I'm doing a great work. I trust that You've called me to this in this season. Give me the focus to stay the course.
