How Did I get here?

I start every morning with coffee with God through daily devotions from Our Daily Bread. Today’s devotion is titled “How Did I Get Here?” Mike Wittmer wrote this devotion. The scripture reading is from Job 2:1–10; with the key verse, “Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?”, Job 2:10. My beloved children, grandchildren, cousins, nephews, brothers, and sisters in Christ; for all I write, I first pray to God to guide my words to serve as spiritual food and guidance. I desire God to be my sole source of writing. All the credit goes to God, not me. I am his humble servant. I thank God that He led to use Our Daily Bread Ministries as my inspiration for comments.

All of us have situations when you do not remember how you got there. Driving home one evening, I was semi-asleep at the wheel. By God’s grace, I made it home, but I did not remember how I got there.

There will be times in our lives when everything is well. You have no problems or crises. Suddenly, BAM! everything starts to go sideways, and we wonder, “What just happened?” That is when Job’s story comes to mind.

Like Job, we count on God to be faithful. We know how the story will end.

Reflect:

What situation fills you with agony and dread? How might you regain your bearings and live with hope and joy?

Prayer:

Father, you’re not surprised by what surprises me. You were good before, and You remain good now.
