A Critical Reaction

I start every morning with coffee with God through daily devotions from Our Daily Bread. Today’s devotion is titled “A Critical Reaction.” Patricia Raybon wrote this devotion. The scripture reading is from Proverbs 15:1–2, Proverbs 15:31–33 with the key verse, “The one who is patient calms a quarrel.” Proverbs 15:18. My beloved children, grandchildren, cousins, nephews, brothers, and sisters in Christ; for all I write, I first pray to God to guide my words to serve as spiritual food and guidance. I desire God to be my sole source of writing. All the credit goes to God, not me. I am his humble servant. I thank God that He led to use Our Daily Bread Ministries as my inspiration for comments.

I still need spiritual help in this area. I do have a temper. When I get angry, I do opposite of what the bible said to do. I am learning to accept criticism as a learning moment and not take it personally.

Wisdom instructs us to “fear the Lord” because “humility comes before honor” Proverbs 15:33.

Reflect:

What’s your typical reaction when you’re criticized? In a dispute, what’s a humble way you can guard your tongue?

Prayer:

Dear God, when criticism strikes or a dispute hurts, guard my tongue in humble honor of You.

My Prayer for You:

I pray that God will guard your tongue in humble honor of Him when criticism and hurtful disputes strikes.
