Doing My Role

I start every day with God reading daily devotions from Our Daily Bread. Today's devotion is titled "Doing Our Role." Dave Branon wrote this devotion. The scripture reading is from Hebrews 6:9–12 with the key verse, "Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace." 1 Peter 4:10. My beloved children, grandchildren, cousins, nephews, brothers, and sisters in Christ; for all I write, I first pray to God to guide my words to serve as spiritual food and guidance. I desire God to be my sole source of writing. All the credit goes to God, not me. I am his humble servant. I thank God that He led to use Our Daily Bread Ministries as my inspiration for comments and to witness.

I remember a Christian principle that complimented me that I had a servant's heart. That was the best compliment I ever received. His compliment encouraged me to excel in the role. I never got jealous if someone received a position that I wanted because I never wanted any position except supporting and encouraging others. I learned to be content with the role God gave me.

Reflect:

Do you know someone who received a position, task, or role you wanted yet could use your encouragement? Why is it right to thank God for the tasks He's given you in serving others?

Prayer:

Sovereign God, help me not to focus on others' roles but to serve You in the sacred calling You've given me. Enable me to help others by a word of encouragement for what they do for You.

My Prayer for You:

I pray that our Sovereign God helps you not focus on others' roles but to serve You in the sacred calling He has given you. Enable you to help others by a word of encouragement for what they do for You.
