Let God Lead The Way
I start every day with God, reading daily devotions from Our Daily Bread. Today’s devotion is titled “The Long Way.” Leslie Koh wrote this devotion. The scripture reading is from Zechariah 10:6–12 with the key verse, “God did not lead them on the road through the Philistine country, though that was shorter.” Exodus 13:17. My beloved children, grandchildren, cousins, nephews, brothers, and sisters in Christ; for all I write, I first pray to God to guide my words to serve as spiritual food and guidance. I desire God to be my sole source of writing. All the credit goes to God, not me. I am his humble servant. I thank God that He led to use Our Daily Bread Ministries as my inspiration for comments and to witness.
Before I became a Christian, I felt envious of those promoted over me and making more money. I tried to take the “short cut” to success by getting another job that promoted me or better pay. The result was terrible. I relocated my family numerous times. I was either fired or laid-off because I was not ready to do the job.
As a Christian, I reflected realized how my rashness caused an extra strain on my family. I learned to wait on The Lord and take the long road.
I learned the shortest way isn’t always the best.
God lets us take the longer route in life, whether it’s in our career or other endeavors so that we’ll be better prepared for the journey ahead. In conclusion, when things don’t seem to happen quickly enough, we can trust in God to lead and guide us.
Reflect:
How might God be strengthening you by letting you take the “longer way” in life? How can you remind yourself to keep trusting Him?
Prayer:
Loving God, you know how I feel when things don’t seem to happen quickly enough. Grant me the patience to trust in You and Your sovereign plan and purpose.
My Prayer for You:
Loving God, you know how we felt when things don’t seem to happen quickly enough. Grant us the patience to trust You and Your sovereign plan and purpose
