Giving Is The True Nature of Love
I start every day with God and reading daily devotions from Our Daily Bread. Today’s devotion is titled “The True Nature of Love.” Anne Cetas wrote this devotion. The scripture reading is from 2 Corinthians 8:1–9. The key verse is, “They gave as much as they were able.” 2 Corinthians 8:3. My beloved brothers and sisters in Christ; before I write, I first pray to God to guide my words to serve as spiritual food and guidance. I desire God to be my sole source of writing. All the credit goes to God, not me. I am his humble servant. I thank God that He led me to use Our Daily Bread Ministries to inspire comments and witnessing.
Paul states that we need to imitate Christ’s love for us through our giving. Paul further points out the basis for their giving was the sacrificial heart of Jesus Himself. He left the riches of heaven to come to earth to be a servant and give His very life. “Though he was rich, yet for [our] sake he became poor” (v. 9).
May we plead with God so that we might “excel in this grace of giving” to meet the needs of others lovingly.
Reflect
How might sacrificial service or giving fit into your life this week? Who needs your encouragement?
My prayer for us:
Loving God, You are so good. Please give us opportunities to bless others for You in Your power and wisdom.
