I start every day with God and reading daily devotions from Our Daily Bread. Today’s devotion is titled “God Knows Your Story.” Cindy Hess Kasper wrote this devotion. The scripture reading is from Psalm 139:1–6, Psalm 139:23–24. The key verse is, “Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.” Psalm 139:23.My beloved brothers and sisters in Christ; before I write, I first pray to God to guide my words to serve as spiritual food and guidance. I desire God to be my sole source of writing. All the credit goes to God, not me. I am his humble servant. I thank God that He led me to use Our Daily Bread Ministries to inspire comments and witnessing.
Verses indicate one key theme throughout God’s word today at the beginning and end of the Psalm: God searches us, and He knows us (Psalm 139: 1, 23). The word used for “search” involves God’s diligent probing. The word used for “know” means to know someone intimately and personally.
I have close friends I know who love me despite myself, but I never share everything. However, God knows my whole story. He is the One I can freely talk to, even if I am reluctant to share with others.
God wants us to come to Him with our confusion, anxious thoughts and struggles with temptation. When we yield completely to Him, He restores and rewrites the parts of our story that make us sad because we have wandered from Him.
What is terrific is He still loves us! Daily surrender yourselves to Him and seek to know Him more fully.
Reflect
What assurance do you have that God will always love you unconditionally? How can you make yielding to Him a daily practice?
My prayer for us:
Precious Father, thank You for loving us as Your child despite the times we have disappointed You. Help us to yield all of ourselves to You in full assurance that You are faithfully walking beside us.
